Yesterday I was putting in an entry and I must have hit some unknown key by mistake and wiped out the whole entry except for the last third of the line I was working on. There was no way to recover so I quit in disgust.
This afternoon we went into Custer for their Gold Discovery days car show. Relatively small collection, with some cars from out of state, but fun. Lots of old 50s and 60s pickup trucks that had been modified. One completely custom bodied car that was quite lovely. In the morning they had a balloon launch and then around 10 am a parade but we chose to miss those and have our usual morning. Beautiful day here, in the 80s, until this evening when the thunderstorms returned along with some rain.
Tuesday and Wednesday were taking care of personal business days. A trip to Rapid City, grocery shopping, laundry and all that exciting stuff that we all have to do periodically. Thursday we went to Wind Cave National Park. We were disappointed in the cave formations, except for the "boxwork." We have been in many caves throughout the country that have spectacular formations but this is not one of them. However, the cave itself is very interesting with passages leading all over the place, 127 miles worth in what they claim is all within one square mile of surface area.
Well I thought I would try this out as blogs seem to be the in thing these days. :-) We have been full time for ten years now and this is the first time we have been in South Dakota. We are in Custer and have discovered that it is a beautiful area. Have been here for two weeks and will be here until early September since there is so much to see and do. Spent the first two weeks driving all over Custer State park. Yesterday we spent the day at Crazy Horse. Got to witness a blast; such good timing!
