July 30th

Yesterday I was putting in an entry and I must have hit some unknown key by mistake and wiped out the whole entry except for the last third of the line I was working on. There was no way to recover so I quit in disgust.

Monday we drove up to Sturgis to see what the town was like just before bike week started. It was a lot of fun as the vendors were there setting up all along the main street and actually all the way into Rapid City along I-90. In town there must have been dozens of clothing/T shirt vendors. Probably everyone who attends the rally buys at least one T shirt; including me! :-) I think you can purchase almost anything you need in Sturgis right now, at least if it is Harley related. There was even a vendor with a dynomometer in a trailer for the power boys. The motorcycle museum in Sturgis is small but nicely done with some interesting bikes including some out of my own past history. Had lunch at a small grill that is owned and run by a doctor and his son. Good food. Of course there were bikes everywhere but most were out touring the area on a beautiful day.

After Sturgis we drove into Rapid City to sewing  and fabric stores which were the nicest we have seen in several years of visting everyone we come accross in our travels. Then on to Sams for some supplies and then back home to Custer through Hermosa as that was a road we haven't traveld yet. As a lways the drive through Custer State park was a delight. Saw a wild turkey on the way.
